6 Ways to Help a Friend or Family Member Going Through Cancer

Cancer is way to common these days.  God wants everyone to be healthy, and when we support our loved ones, it makes a big difference the attitude you bring to them. It's usually a whirlwind when they deliver that unfortunate news, and oftentimes we are caught off guard and can feel helpless and unsure of how to support them.

So, if someone you care about has been diagnosed with cancer, here are six ways you can help a friend or family member going through cancer:

1.  Pray for them:

praying for a friend Prayer can be a powerful source of strength and comfort, and it can be especially helpful for someone with cancer. Offer to pray for your loved one, and consider setting up a prayer chain with other friends and family members.

2.  Be a source of positivity:

Cancer can be a scary and overwhelming experience, and it can be easy for your loved one to get caught up in negative thoughts. Do your best to be a source of positivity and encouragement, and try to focus on the good things in life.

3.  Help with practical tasks:

Cancer treatment can be physically and emotionally draining, and it can be helpful to have someone take care of practical tasks like grocery shopping or running errands. Ask your friend or family member if there is anything you can do to make their life easier.  We recommend healthy living foods

4.  Provide transportation:

Help friends iwth a ride to the hospital

If your loved one is receiving treatment at a hospital or clinic, consider offering to drive them to appointments. This can be a big help, especially if they are feeling too sick to drive themselves.

5.  Share your faith:

If your loved one is open to it, consider sharing your faith with them and offering them words of encouragement from the Bible. There are many verses that can bring hope and comfort during difficult times, such as Psalm 23: "Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me."

6.  Take care of yourself:

It's important to remember that you can't be there for your loved one if you're not taking care of yourself. Make sure to get enough sleep, eat well, and take time to relax and recharge.

Remember, there is no one-size-fits-all solution when it comes to supporting someone with cancer. The most important thing is to be there for your loved one in whatever way they need, and to let them know that you are there for them every step of the way, praying for them and offering your love and support.
